A new indoor swimming pool for Hemer – with OBO as a reliable partner
General building information
A new indoor swimming pool is being built in Hemer – a modern pool for swimming events, schools and for clubs.
Where there used to be a railway station and then a large car park, the new indoor pool is now being constructed. The pool has an industrial look and is one of the town’s biggest investments.
“Other indoor pools are closing, we are opening a new one in Hemer,” explains Anna Kerem, project manager and controller. “The old indoor pool, built in the 1970s, was in dire need of renovation so a new building was the solution,” she adds.
The L-shaped stainless steel swimming pool offers plenty of space. The new pool will be completely without frills which is why no slides, sauna or other wellness facilities have been included. There will only be a children’s area with water games and a water canon for younger guests.
In addition to the sports pool, where training can take place in five lanes, a 3-metre and a 1-metre diving platform have been built. In future, competitions will take place in the 25-metre lanes. The pool will be used mainly for school and swimming lessons.
The photovoltaic systems on the roof of the building will ensure the sustainable generation of electricity. The total cost of this project is over 16 million euros, making the new indoor pool one of the largest investments after the implementation of the State Garden Show in 2010.
Why did the customer choose OBO products?
Around 350 metres of cable trays from OBO Bettermann ensure the flexible and secure routing of power and data. The RKS-Magic® cable tray system enables an even faster lengthwise connection of the cable trays. This is thanks to their innovative plug-in system, which offers many handy advantages. The cable trays are simply plugged together, then clicked into place – and that’s it. Without any screws, connectors or other accessories, the speed of installation can be noticeably and effectively increased.
The system thus stands for the three fundamental aspects of efficiency, load-bearing capacity and safety. In the new indoor swimming pool in Hemer, the RKS Magic® trays can be seen throughout the building – both in the public area where they are particularly visible thanks to the industrial look, as well as in the ventilation are on the upper floor and in the basement, the technical centrepiece of the pool.
