Hotel Excelsior Gallia in Milan
OBO Bettermann products blend seamlessly into the elegant details of the Hotel Excelsior Gallia, recently renovated by Studio Piva.
Project description
The Hotel Excelsior Gallia is one of the most famous hotels in Milan. It is located in a former palace, opposite Milan's imposing central train station, which was built at the same time as the palace. The palace was recently renovated by the architectural firm Studio Marco Piva.
Studio Piva renovated the 1930s building, skilfully combining the style of La Belle Epoque with new upscale, modernised facilities.
General building information
The Hotel Excelsior Gallia comprises two main buildings: the restored historical part and the modern wing with a glass and steel façade.
The hotel offers 235 rooms, including 53 suites, some of which are dedicated to the world of design and Milan's greatest representatives: Vico Magistretti, Achille Castiglioni, Giò Ponti, Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Franco Albini, with some of their most important works presented here.
Why did the customer choose OBO products?
Craftspeople, designers and the best "Made in Italy" brands were called upon to contribute to the renewal of this important part of urban architectural history.
In addition to the architectural project, Studio Piva also curated a collection of 500 works of art – sculptures, paintings and photographs. These are displayed in the public areas of the hotel, in the suites and in other well-considered locations throughout the building.
Were special solutions used?
In order to enhance each individual detail of the luxury hotel, the planners wanted to select components, fittings and finishes that met the highest technical and aesthetic criteria. OBO Bettermann's RKSN cassettes blend perfectly into the different structures and elegant materials of the floors, thus enabling concealed electrical installation in the flooring. The cassettes are access points for sockets and media technology, hiding them discreetly when not needed for electrical installations. The height-adjustable cassettes perfectly complement the luxurious details of the hotel.
The cassettes from OBO Bettermann can be adjusted to the floor surface. They are available in a range of designs and materials, such as stainless steel or brass. They can be installed in both raised and cavity floors as well as in screed, and are also easily installed in modern flooring systems (terrazzo floors, design screeds or classic timber and tile floors).
These and many other small details that were skilfully worked by the various designers and craftspeople come together with the best "Made in Italy" brands to make every corner of this hotel an elegant and luxurious space.
