Particularly high requirements apply to fire protection in computer centres While, in the server rooms, it is primarily fire alarm technology and automatic extinguishing systems that are used, other building sections also require structural fire protection measures. To allow the continued supply of electrical systems, even in the event of fire, sections of the safety power supply must, for example, be erected with cable systems with integrated maintenance of electrical function according to DIN 4102 Part 12. The different rooms and areas of the computer centres fulfil different tasks. The cable routing penetrates fire-resistant components, i.e. walls and ceilings. In addition, cables are also installed in emergency and escape routes. In both cases, care should be taken to ensure that a fire does not even have the chance to start or that fire and smoke cannot spread to other parts of the building. Openings in walls and ceilings are closed with cable insulation, which must correspond to the fire resistance class of the component, e.g. a wall with class EI90 must contain fire-resistant insulation with the appropriate class. Fire protection ducts are used in escape and rescue routes.
